Nicks work will be hanging at Dapper Darlings till the end of January.
Small works $35 and large works $65.
Hello Nick! Can you tell me a little bit about your artworks that are hanging in Dapper this month? Hey Linda! This is simply a fun series of work that combines my childish love for space and pirates. I think as we all grow up, there is something that we hold onto from our youth, and I was interested in how that fits into our lives as we get older. It features a mix of illustrative works that incorporate detailed pen work, watercolours and a some zinc plate etchings.
How did you get into art and where do you study now?
I was always interested in drawing since I was quite young. It was the only thing I was good at so I just stuck with it. The more I practiced art the more I realized what could be done with it. I am currently studying, recently finishing my second year of a bachelor of fine arts degree and the College of Fine Arts in Sydney.
Are you from the Central Coast and what do you think about Long Jetty?
I grew up on the Central Coast and having a lot of friends and family here I still visit regularly. Long jetty has really transformed in the last few years. It’s become such an attraction on the Coast, it really gives us younger people somewhere to shop and hang out, which is something we never really had before.
Where can we see your work in the future?
More of my work can be seen hanging at Ampersand bookstore cafe in Paddington. I am also currently collaborating with the Pottery Shed in Sydney, transferring my work on to ceramic pieces, so I am excited to see where that will take me
Do you have a blog/ tumblr/ Instagram/ contact where people can find you?
I can be contacted through email at, firstname.lastname@example.org and also on my tumblr, nickgauciart.tumblr.com which features more of my work.
